Job description

About the Job

At Danone, manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.  We are currently looking to hire a Human Resources Manager based in Eugene, Oregon!

The Human Resources Manager is a key HR leader for the manufacturing site and an important member of the Plant Leadership team.  This role serves as a strategic partner to plant leadership while acting as a visible, trusted point of contact for associates across the site.

The HR Manager leads all aspects of Human Resources at the plant, including labor and employee relations, talent strategy, workforce planning, culture and engagement, compliance, and organizational capability building.  This leader plays a critical role in enabling Danone’s manufacturing transformation by supporting the adoption of disciplined ways of working and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This Eugene, OR–based role serves as the primary HR leader for the Eugene manufacturing site and provides HR oversight for the Portland, OR site. The role leads a team of two HR Generalists, including a Portland-based HR Generalist who functions as the site HR leader for that smaller facility.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

Strategic People Leadership

  • Serve as a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, partnering with leaders to develop and execute a long-term people strategy aligned to business priorities.
  • Champion Danone’s culture, values, and behaviors, creating an inclusive, engaging, and high-performance work environment.
  • Lead site wide engagement and listening efforts, translating feedback into clear actions that improve employee experience and business results.

Employee & Labor Relations

  • Lead employee and labor relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and conflict resolution, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with union representatives (where applicable) and plant stakeholders.
  • Coach leaders to strengthen frontline leadership capability and reduce risk through effective people management.

Talent, Capability & Organization

  • Own workforce planning, staffing strategy, succession planning, and leadership development for the plant.
  • Lead, coach, and develop HR team, setting clear expectations and building capability across all HR disciplines.
  • Partner with leaders to build organizational capability and support change initiatives.

Change & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the people and change management aspects of Danone’s manufacturing operating system and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Enable disciplined routines, standard work, and leadership behaviors that support sustainable adoption of new ways of working.
  • Use people data and metrics to identify trends, measure progress, and drive targeted improvement actions.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with labor and employment law, company policies, and HR processes.
  • Maintain accurate HR data and support reporting/analytics.
  • Partner with centers of excellence (COEs).

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the Plant HR Manager is regularly required to:

  • Stand, walk, and move throughout the manufacturing facility, including production, warehouse, office, and outdoor areas, for extended periods of time
  • Sit intermittently to perform administrative, planning, and reporting functions
  • Use hands and fingers to operate computers, phones, office equipment, and other standard business tools
  • Reach with hands and arms and occasionally bend, stoop, or crouch while observing operations or engaging employees on the production floor
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to manufacturing sites, corporate offices or offsite meetings as business needs require.

Work Environment

  • This position is based primarily in a manufacturing plant environment and requires regular presence on the production floor. The employee may be exposed to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and temperature variations.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when accessing designated areas of the facility.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 or a 24/5 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.

Engagement in our Integrated Work Systems

Ensure adherence to all plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, and Driving OE). As a fundamental leader within the organization, own the implementation and deployment of the Integrated Work Systems (IWS) framework or equivalent continuous improvement systems across all plant types. This includes driving core pillars such as Leadership Foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving Operational Excellence, Autonomous and Planned Maintenance, Focused Improvement, Education and Training, Environmental Health and Safety, Quality, and Supply Network. The objective is to build a culture of ownership of space, performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature), and continuous improvement regardless of system maturity.

Compensation & Benefits:

Danone North America additionally offers a performance-based bonus and has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options.
