Help Shape the Employee Experience Across Teledyne FLIR Defense
Are you an HR professional who thrives on balancing strategic initiatives, employee engagement, and day-to-day business partnership? Do you enjoy creating programs that have meaningful impact across an organization while serving as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees? Teledyne FLIR is seeking an HR Generalist / HR Business Partner who will play a critical role not only supporting business leaders and employees at our Elkridge, Maryland site, but also leading enterprise-wide HR programs and initiatives across our Defense businesses. This is a unique opportunity for an HR professional who wants visibility, influence, and the ability to drive meaningful changes across multiple organizations. In this role, you will partner closely with HR Business Partners, managers, and employees to create exceptional employee experiences, improve retention, strengthen culture, and leverage data-driven insights to support business decisions.
What You'll Do
  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor and first point of contact for managers and employees.
  • Provide coaching and guidance on performance management, employee relations, talent development, organizational effectiveness, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct employee investigations and recommend practical, compliant resolutions.
  • Support recruiting activities, candidate selection, onboarding, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and HR procedures.

In addition to site support responsibilities, this role will own and drive HR initiatives across the Defense organization, including:
Employee Onboarding Excellence
  • Design and enhance onboarding programs that create a welcoming, engaging, and productive experience for new employees.
  • Develop tools, resources, and best practices that improve new hire integration and accelerate productivity.

Exit & Retention Insights
  • Manage offboarding and exit interview processes across Defense.
  • Analyze employee feedback and identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve retention and employee experience.
  • Partner with leaders and HR teams to implement action plans based on findings.

Culture & Employee Engagement
  • Lead initiatives that foster an inclusive, collaborative, respectful, and safe work environment.
  • Develop programs that strengthen employee engagement, belonging, recognition, and organizational culture.
  • Partner with leadership teams to improve employee experience across the employee lifecycle.

Internship Program Leadership
  • Coordinate and manage the Defense internship program.
  • Partner with business leaders, hiring managers, universities, and HR colleagues to deliver a best-in-class intern experience.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, development activities, and program effectiveness measurement.

Data Analytics & AI-Driven HR Solutions
  • Utilize data analytics and AI-enabled tools to identify workforce trends and opportunities.

What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 - 5+ years of progressive HR Administration, HR Business Generalist, or equivalent HR experience.
  • Strong employee relations and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and analytical capability.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word.
  • Experience working with HR systems; Workday experience is preferred.
  • Able and willing to travel approximately 15%

Preferred Qualifications
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
