Job description

Overview
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) has a key role in the ongoing transformation of HR services to New York Medical College (NYMC). The HRBP ensures alignment of organizational objectives with HR strategy, plans, and services to support the NYMC's administrative and academic departments. The overall focus is on strong client partnership to deliver value-added HR support, and ensure effective integration of HR initiatives across the organization.
The HRBP serves as a strategic partner and consultant to leadership on human resource-related matters, including workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness. This position evaluates challenges, assesses risk, and develops integrated, practical solutions to achieve business outcomes and enhance overall organizational performance. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, and is located on the NYMC campus in Valhalla, NY.
Responsibilities
HR Support & Consultation
  • Serve as a point of contact for managers and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, programs, and processes.
  • Consult with line management by presenting options and providing support in decision-making, escalating complex issues to senior HR staff as needed.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives in collaboration with HR colleagues and management.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery of the HR business partner model.

Employee Relations & Compliance Support
  • Assist managers with routine employee relations issues, including guidance on performance management and workplace concerns.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, collective bargaining agreements, and regulatory Employee Development & Training Support
  • Lead client groups in the utilization of the Employee Development Program (EDP) for administrative staff, including Goal Setting and Performance Evaluation. Provide coaching and training to managers and employees as needed
  • Assist in identifying training needs and supporting the implementation of employee development initiatives, including awareness and usage of courses available in the online EDP system.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers for career development discussions and day-to-day performance coaching under senior HR guidance.

Recruitment & Workforce Support
  • Assist managers with job descriptions, recruitment, promotions, and transfers.
  • Help analyze HR data and metrics to support program improvement and organizational planning.

Organizational Engagement
  • Work with management and employees to support positive work relationships, morale, and productivity initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues and supervisors to implement organizational initiatives and projects.

Other Duties
  • Collaborate with Touro University HR team on projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director of Human Resources.

Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) are a plus but not required.
  • 2 or more years of professional experience in human resources, preferably including employee relations, compensation, recruitment, and HR program support, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience supporting HR initiatives and collaborating with managers on policy interpretation and employee development programs.
  • Experience in HR systems and technology.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to provide HR guidance and support to managers and employees in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Capacity to assist in employee relations, policy interpretation, and program administration.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across departments and teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical behavior, regulatory compliance, and maintaining confidentiality.

USD $60,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary
USD $75,000.00/Yr.
