Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview

Responsible for all day-to-day activities related to Staffing, Performance Management, Compensation and benefits, training, and general employee relations to ensure improved quality of work life for all employees in accordance with the principles of the "Magna Employee's Charter".

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advises and assists Leaders/Employees with work/non-work-related issues and the interpretation and administration of company policies and procedures to ensure fair and consistent treatment company-wide
  • Manage staffing activities including the preparation of job postings, maintenance of requisitions, conducting internal and external searches, interviewing candidates, making hiring recommendations to Managers, providing feedback to candidates, and preparation of all contracts and related paperwork
  • Coordination of onboarding for new hires including conducting orientation, collection of documentation, and conducting benefits orientation
  • Coordination of the goal setting and annual performance review processes
  • Manage compensation practices including annual salary survey analysis, wage and bonus process
  • Manage Talent Management Program, including talent assessment, talent reviews and succession planning
  • Follows up on requirements to complete the New Hire and Termination Checklists
  • Assists leadership team in resolving performance issues and making recommendations for remedial/corrective action
  • Maintains Human Resources Information Systems
  • Coordination of Intern program including forecasting, recruitment, on campus events, co-op tours & presentations
  • Assists with ensuring employee development/career plans are current and reviewed regularly
  • Development and coordination of training activities
  • Assists with the facilitation and development of the Employee Survey Action Plans
  • Coordinates activities (exit interviews, stay interviews, polls, etc.) to measure employee engagement and develop action plans
  • Preparation of employee communication meeting presentations, presenting material as required
  • Contributes to the development and continual updating of Human Resources policies, procedures, work instructions, databases and the Employee handbook in accordance with legislated requirements
  • Assists with the maintenance of department documentation including employee files, ensuring compliance with document control & retention policies
  • Contributes to compensation activities including annual merit review and total compensation survey
  • Assists with preparation for audits and implementation of corrective actions
  • Prepares the monthly benefit billing reports and payments and coordinates annual overage dependents audit
  • Coordinates short-term absence and long-term disability claims
  • Maintains available tools for employee communications
  • Leads the coordination of social events & fundraising
  • Assists employees with general requests/questions
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all information obtained, written or verbal, within the Human Resources Department
  • Maintains a professional customer service-oriented manner within the company and supports the corporate image as per Human Resources departmental objectives and company policies
  • Follows and models safe working practices and promotes safety in the workplace
  • Performs special projects as assigned
  • Follows Magna's Code of Conduct & Ethics and related compliance policies
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 Years of experience in Human Resources required
  • Experience with Workday or a similar HRIS is required
  • Experience working in Engineering Center / R&D Environment helpful

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or similar discipline
  • Professional Certification helpful

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Sound Knowledge of US / Michigan Employment legislation
  • Strong knowledge of immigration law
  • Experienced in technical recruiting (engineering; R&D)
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written, and listening
  • Ability to build relationships with & service the customer (internal)
  • Ability to work efficiently individually and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
