What is a Human Genetics job?

A Human Genetics job involves studying how genes influence human traits, diseases, and inheritance patterns. Professionals in this field conduct research, analyze genetic data, and apply findings in healthcare, biotechnology, or forensic science. Roles can vary from genetic counseling and laboratory research to developing new genetic treatments. Many positions require advanced degrees in genetics, biology, or related fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Human Genetics position, and why are they important?

To excel in Human Genetics, a strong background in genetics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics is essential, often requiring an advanced degree such as a Ph.D. or M.S. in genetics or a related field. Familiarity with laboratory techniques (e.g., DNA sequencing, PCR), genetic analysis software, and data interpretation tools is typically required, along with relevant certifications depending on the workplace.
