Motorola Solutions is seeking a visionary Senior UX Designer with deep expertise in AI and Voice User Interfaces to create mission-critical applications that safeguard lives every day. As a Senior UX Designer, you will be a lead contributor, directly shaping the next generation of mobile public safety solutions. We're looking for a design expert who wants to lead in a hands-on way: You are equally passionate about delivering outstanding design solutions as you are about collaborating, and potentially mentoring, within a dynamic team. You strategically design to make sense of complex, multimodal workflows, including cutting-edge voice interfaces, with the ability to transform those insights into exceptional user experiences in real-world, mission-critical settings. What You'll Do:
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Research teams to ensure alignment and success.
  • Adapt to rapidly shifting priorities and contribute to an agile, fast-paced innovation environment.
  • Champion a user-centered approach in the development and application of AI technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI (ML, NLP, generative AI) to solve user problems and create novel, delightful experiences.
  • Lead the design and development of intuitive voice user interfaces (VUI) and multimodal experiences for mission-critical applications.
  • Define and refine voice interaction models, dialog flows, and persona guidelines for AI-driven features.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers and researchers to translate natural language processing (NLP) capabilities into effective and delightful spoken interactions.
  • Design and/or research user interactions with AI-powered features and systems, ensuring they are intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing specifically focused on voice commands, spoken feedback, and multimodal interactions.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, ethical guidelines, and design patterns for Human-AI interaction including voice and conversational AI within our organization.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and their potential applications in experience design and research.
  • Effectively communicate research findings, design concepts, and AI possibilities to diverse audiences.
  • Translate customer insights into innovative designs that elevate public safety applications.
  • Contribute to the optimization of design processes, help establish best practices, and ensure exceptional design quality.
  • Advocate for design excellence and evolve the UX culture within the organization.

Fundamental Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree: in HCI, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years proven experience in Design: (such as UX, CX, Interaction Design, Product Design) with demonstrable experience in Voice User Interface (VUI) design, conversational AI, or multimodal interaction design.
  • Leadership experience: Experience guiding or influencing design direction or mentoring junior designers is a plus, but not required.
  • Portfolio: Showcasing exceptional UX design for apps and services that showcases your process, skills, and impact. Please highlight any projects or thinking related to AI and specifically Voice UI/conversational design if available.Your portfolio should demonstrate a mastery of UX craft and the ability to drive complex projects.
  • AI Literacy: A strong understanding of core Artificial Intelligence concepts, including Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI - their capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations. You don't need to be an AI developer, but you must understand how these technologies work at a conceptual level.
  • Voice UI Expertise: Proven experience designing and prototyping voice user interfaces, including defining grammars, intents, slots, and dialog flows. Familiarity with VUI platforms and technologies (e.g., Alexa Skills, Google Assistant, or custom speech platforms) is a strong plus.
  • Problem Solver: Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a knack for identifying user needs and framing them as design or research challenges.
  • User-Centric Mindset: A deep passion for understanding and advocating for the user.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and articulate complex ideas clearly (verbally and visually).
  • Adaptability & Continuous Learning: Eagerness to learn new technologies and methodologies, particularly in the rapidly evolving AI space. Ability to thrive in an environment with dynamic priorities.

Target Base Salary Range: $96,500 - $133,000 USD
