The recent success of S&ME's Nashville office has come at a time of nearly unparalleled company profitability, with Employee-Owners benefiting from significant increases in stock value and significant investments in our company's future. Become an Employee-Owner at S&ME and play an active role in our continued growth!
As a Natural Resources Project Manager, you'll lead a variety of environmental and natural resource projects from early planning through completion, balancing regulatory compliance, technical quality, client needs, and team coordination. This role blends fieldwork and office responsibilities and requires close collaboration with regulatory agencies, clients, and internal teams. You'll play a key role in delivering sustainable solutions while supporting project performance, safety, and professional growth within the team.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Project Management & Delivery: Manage natural resources projects from proposal development through execution, including scopes, schedules, budgets, and client communication to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Regulatory Coordination & Permitting: Coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to evaluate jurisdictional waters, support environmental permitting efforts, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Field Investigations & Assessments: Conduct and oversee wetland delineations, stream determinations, mitigation support, ecological assessments, and protected species surveys as needed.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Work alongside and mentor technical staff, ensuring safety, quality standards, and operational objectives are met while coordinating with other service lines to support project needs.
- Client & Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, provide regular project updates, and represent the company in professional and community settings to support business development and visibility.
What You Bring:

- 5+ years' experience that includes at least 3 years of experience with wetland delineations, stream determinations, environmental permitting, mitigation, protected species surveys, and ecological surveys, and previous experience in the southeast U.S.
- Demonstrated successful team leadership and management at a project level with a good understanding of safety policies/procedures, quality, business metrics, human resources policies/procedures, and risk management concepts
- GIS experience and/or knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for clients, staff, and regulatory personnel
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:

Our team of 1,000+ employee-owners across 10+ states works together to create meaningful impact for our clients and communities. When you join S&ME, you become part of a collaborative, honest, and people-focused culture that invests in your success. We offer exciting project opportunities, ongoing training, and a comprehensive benefits package to support you and your family. This is more than a job; it's a place to grow, thrive, and build a future.
Here's what you can look forward to:

- Wellness Program - $50 off per month on your 2027 premiums!
