Day to day as a HCM Sales Officer

As an HCM Sales Officer at Mercantile Bank, you will leverage your expertise to sell Human Capital Management services through partnerships with internal and external referral channels. In this pivotal role, you will meet with referral sources and prospective clients, focusing on businesses with 50 or more employees. Your success will depend on analyzing customer needs and developing tailored proposals that align with their unique business practices. You will actively promote our HCM products, engage in contract negotiations, and ensure a seamless transition for new clients.  This hybrid role offers the flexibility to connect effectively with prospective customers through time on the road, at our Leonard location, and from home.

Your responsibilities also include cultivating relationships with existing HCM clients, maintaining communication regarding their evolving needs, and managing a comprehensive sales pipeline through our CRM system. You will collaborate with internal teams to drive marketing initiatives and enhance our presence in the market, all while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Are you the HCM Sales Officer we're looking for?

To thrive as an HCM Sales Officer at Mercantile Bank, you will need a robust combination of skills and experience. Ideal candidates typically hold a bachelor's degree or possess equivalent industry-recognized certifications, such as information technology credentials. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in Human Capital Management is preferred, providing you with a solid foundation for understanding complex client needs. Essential skills include strong analytical abilities, effective customer communication, and a proven track record in consultative sales methodologies. Familiarity with payroll processes and regulations is beneficial and obtaining certifications like the Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) or the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification is highly desirable.

You will also need critical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges during the sales cycle. Your ability to adapt and collaborate within a high-performing team will be vital as you work to develop customized HCM solutions that meet our clients' needs.
