Description
Position Summary:
The Safety Officer assigned to Resolve Marine jobsites or facilities is responsible for the safety of all personnel, equipment, and surrounding environment. The Safety Officer works in coordination with the HSEQ Department and the onsite project or facility management to ensure safe working conditions are present, hazards are identified and mitigated, and project site regulatory compliance is maintained. The Safety Officer reports to the HSEQ Manager and the onsite Salvage Master when assigned to a project site.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with the HSEQ Department to create and ensure a site safety plan is in place
  • Brief visitors and subcontractors on the site safety plan
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented following and incident
  • Conduct investigations of accidents; prepare reports and review results with the onsite Salvage Master and HSEQ Manager at Resolve headquarters
  • Lead safety meetings and site safety briefings
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and safety deficiencies
  • Assist in developing contingency plans and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Monitor the use of PPE, ensuring proper procedures are followed
  • Ensure employee adherence to Resolve's HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Maintain project site safety documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • 5 + years of Maritime experience particularly related to offshore, oil field, environmental, waste treatment systems, marine engineering, oil spill response, or tank barge operations
  • 2+ years of experience as field safety officer for salvage, emergency response, environmental, or maritime operations
  • 2+ years of experience with the administration/management of safety programs
  • Working knowledge of USCG and OSHA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws/regulations preferred
  • Experience in maritime salvage operations preferred
  • Current Driver License
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED certification
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER or the ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment
  • USCG Tankerman-PIC (Barge) preferred
  • OSHA 30 Hour- General Industry (or foreign equivalent) preferred
  • OSHA 80 Hour - Hazardous Material Technician preferred
  • USCG Approved Basic and Advanced Marine Fire Fighting preferred
  • Pragmatic approach with proven leadership skills in a collaborative environment within a growing business
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities
  • Flexible and able to manage multifaceted projects along with day-to-day responsibilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
