Job Title: Ship Superintendent
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.25-37.00 Per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between Project Managers, Craft Superintendents, Foremen, production teams, and subcontractors.
- Translate project scope, specifications, drawings, and schedules into executable work plans for all crafts.
- Coordinate daily production activities across multiple trades to ensure work is sequenced efficiently and safely.
- Lead daily production meetings to review progress, resolve conflicts, and prioritize work.
- Monitor project progress against schedules and identify risks, constraints, or resource gaps.
- Help ensure crafts and subcontractors adhere to project schedules by reinforcing priorities, sequencing work, and escalating impacts or delays as needed.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material needs in collaboration with Craft Superintendents and the Ship Coordinator.
- Support change order execution by coordinating revised scope, sequencing, and craft impacts.
- Interface with vessel representatives, inspectors, and quality personnel as needed to support production activities.
- Assist in resolving technical and production issues in coordination with Quality Control and Project Management.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with company policies, procedures, contractual requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and clear communication across all production crafts.
Requirements
- Take an active role in compliance with HSEQ Management System.
- Ensure safe working conditions across all assigned work areas.
- Participate in Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEAs), hazard recognition, work observations, and safety meetings.
- Support Craft Superintendents and Foremen in enforcing safety rules and procedures.
- Immediately report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Assist with equipment and worksite HSEQ inspections as required.
- Maintain all required safety training and certifications.
- Support continual improvement initiatives in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Understand and exercise authority to stop work when conditions present imminent risk to life, health, or the environment.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Extensive experience in ship repair, marine construction, or heavy industrial operations.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple crafts or production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or equivalent experience in production management, industrial technology, or a related field.
- Prior experience working directly with project management and production leadership teams.
- Supervisory or lead experience in a shipyard environment.
