Job Description

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000

The HSE Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's Health, Safety, and Environmental programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. It drives continuous improvement initiatives, and fosters a strong safety culture, zero-accident mindset in the organization.

Essential Function:

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintains all required permits, records, and reporting in a timely manner.
  • Lead Audits (Internal & External) and respond to non-conformances identified.
  • Develop, implement, and manage HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analysis, and change management.
  • Communicates and ensures awareness of any hazards in workplace with all employees.
  • Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate and deliver HSE training for employees and contractors.
  • Contractor Management.
  • Ensure continuous education regarding safety practices.
  • Drive programs that build a proactive safety culture.
  • Lead Safety Team Committee Meetings.
  • Track, analyze, and report monthly on safety & sustainability metrics.
  • Lead Emergency Response planning and drills.
  • Support / ensure emergency equipment is maintained.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding workplace injuries/accidents.
  • Key contact for Insurance Company and employees on Workers Compensation cases.
  • Schedules annual audio testing, tracks, and reports as needed any recordables
  • Responsible for HSE supply and inventory.
  • Monitor and manage environmental aspects
  • Ensure compliance with waste handling, storage, and disposal.
  • HSE Visual Sign Management through facilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply influence at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of safety & environmental regulations and standards
  • Leadership presence of plant floor
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Active listener, coach mentality, able to constructively challenge
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science / HSE Certifications Required.
  • 5-7 years' experience with health & safety and environmental management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Demonstrated experience leading HSE programs or teams.

Hours:

  • This is a full-time position with hours starting at 8:00am and ending at 4:30pm, M-F (40 hours/week).
  • The position requires travel / support to both of our Oetker NY locations (Lancaster & Batavia).
