Project Manager I, II- Nuclear Construction & Project Management

Location: Richland, WA (100% Onsite)

Schedule: 4x10 Schedule (Four 10-Hour Days Per Week)

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract

Compensation

Project Manager I: $48-$83/hr

Project Manager II: $63-$97/hr

Project Manager III: $87-102.25/hr


Level and compensation will be determined based on qualifications, certifications, leadership experience, and demonstrated commercial nuclear project management expertise.

Per Diem & Travel Benefits

Qualified non-local candidates may be eligible for:

  • Per Diem: $216/day ($130 Lodging + $86 M&IE)
  • Weekly Per Diem Equivalent: $1,512/week
  • Mileage Reimbursement: $0.72/mile (GSA Rate)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Project Manager to support capital projects, refueling outages, forced outages, and online work activities at nuclear power plant.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are planned effectively, executed safely, delivered on schedule, and controlled within budget. The selected candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Outage Management, Project Controls, Vendors, and Senior Leadership to drive successful project outcomes in a highly regulated nuclear environment.

Commercial Nuclear Power Plant experience is required.

Candidates whose experience is limited to DOE facilities, weapons programs, national laboratories, or other non-commercial nuclear environments will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead projects supporting refueling outages, forced outages, and online work activities
  • Define project scope, schedule, budget, and resource requirements
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans and work packages
  • Coordinate procurement activities, materials planning, and vendor support
  • Manage project execution through completion and closeout

Outage & Work Management

  • Support outage planning and execution activities
  • Coordinate with outage management teams and OCC personnel
  • Prioritize and sequence work activities to support plant objectives
  • Resolve schedule conflicts and resource constraints
  • Support critical path management and schedule recovery efforts

Budget & Cost Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets
  • Track actual versus planned costs
  • Forecast project performance and identify potential cost risks
  • Implement corrective actions when required

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineering, maintenance, operations, planners, contractors, and project controls personnel
  • Provide regular project updates to leadership and stakeholders
  • Present project status, risks, recovery plans, and recommendations to senior management
  • Mentor and support less experienced project personnel as appropriate

Nuclear Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, industrial safety requirements, ALARA principles, and Human Performance tools
  • Support Corrective Action Program (CAP) initiatives and self-assessment activities
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture throughout all phases of project execution

Project Manager I

Typical Scope

  • Manages small to moderately complex projects
  • Leads teams of approximately 5-10 personnel
  • Supports outage, maintenance, and online work activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of technical experience
  • OR Associate Degree and 10+ years of technical experience
  • OR High School Diploma/GED and 12+ years of technical experience

Preferred

  • Commercial nuclear outage or maintenance project experience
  • PMP Certification
  • Construction Management Certification

Project Manager II

Typical Scope

  • Independently manages complex multidisciplinary projects typically under $10M
  • Leads teams exceeding 10 personnel
  • Responsible for higher-risk and higher-visibility work scopes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 14+ years of technical experience
  • OR Associate Degree and 16+ years of technical experience
  • OR High School Diploma/GED and 18+ years of technical experience
  • Active PMP Certification Required

Preferred Experience

  • Refueling outage management
  • Forced outage recovery
  • Capital project execution within a commercial nuclear environment
  • Leadership of multidisciplinary project teams

Project Manager III

Typical Scope

  • Manages large, complex nuclear projects and programs typically exceeding $10M
  • Leads multidisciplinary teams of 10+ personnel
  • Oversees project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and execution
  • Supports engineering, construction, maintenance, and outage projects
  • Mentors junior Project Managers and provides technical leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of project management experience
  • Minimum 4 years managing large-scale or mega projects
  • Strong knowledge of EPC processes, EVM, risk management, and project controls
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Required

  • Current PMP Certification (Certification number and expiration date required)
