Job description

The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Athletic Operations Intern to support the Facility and Game Operations unit.
The Athletic Operations Intern would support the unit with daily event operations, project management and facility preparations.

The ideal candidate will be organized, have good communication skills, and always striving to learn and improve. The day-to-day schedule will be set as dictated by the needs of the Athletics Department. This position will allow for flexibile hours and the opportunity to work night and weekends supporting home events. The Athletics Operations Intern will abide and adhere to all NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations.

Pay rate: $13/hr

Date of employment: September 1, 2026 until May 7, 2027

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Daily Tasks

  • Managing Bryant Hall meeting space setups
  • Assisting with general maintenance and projects throughout athletic facilities
  • Prepare facilities for upcoming events
  • Manage inventory of athletic owned equipment

Game Day Support

  • Opportunity to work nights and weekends supporting staff at home athletics events
  • Miscellaneous tasks as needed by Facility and Game Management staff

Other (as needed/available)

  • Assist with Olympic competition facility and event support
  • On-site for special event weekend setups (camps, recruiting, rentals, etc)

Required qualifications:

  • UVA undergraduate student eligible for student employment and federal work study
  • Ability to work outside regularly
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds

Preferred qualifications:

  • Comfortable in and around athletic venues
  • Works well with others
  • Interest in learning more about collegiate athletic events and facilities
