Job Summary:
HP Hood, a leading dairy manufacturer, has an exciting opportunity for a Stationary Maintenance Engineer. This position will be responsible for welding, electrical, boilers, refrigeration, machinery repair and general maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Welding
  • Lay out materials and fabricate according to plant blueprints and sketches.
  • Use all types of welding rods for proper bonding, penetration and flow.
  • Practice proper use of cutting torch and acetylene welder

Electrical
  • Demonstrate proper use and application of electrical test OVM meter.
  • Perform proper installations of electrical motors.
  • Install conduit and pull electrical wires to code.

Boilers
  • Perform feed water tests and add proper chemicals as needed.
  • Maintain proper TDS levels in the boiler.
  • Operate boilers on natural gas or fuel.

Refrigeration
  • Maintain head pressures to obtain proper temperatures.
  • Switch refrigeration compressors from high side to low side or intermediate side as needed.
  • Perform and maintain oil drained from ammonia in our refrigeration systems.

Machinery Repair
  • Follow factory "ASSEMBLY BLUE PRINTS" and put them into proper use.
  • Demonstrate proper use of hand tools.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of shop equipment such as drill press, bearing pullers, grinders, part-off saw, etc.

General
  • Perform above functions in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Respond and perform assigned duties in a timely manner per work order program appendix II.
  • Perform assigned duties following "GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES".
  • Attend Daily Production Meeting if required.
  • Maintain records and logs as required.
  • Support change over and start up of assigned area.
  • Upholds quality, safety and cleanliness standards within designated areas.

SQF Requirements
  • Maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining work areas in a sanitary manner.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • The monitoring of contracted services.
  • Maintaining the calibration program.
  • Maintaining the Prevention Maintenance Program.

Coverage
  • Maintenance Chief Engineer is trained in all aspects of the Maintenance Engineer Job Description and able to perform coverage in this position as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • At least 3+ years' experience in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).
  • Excellent Troubleshoot Experience.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Communication skills are a must.
  • Multi-tasked Individual.
  • Ability to work independently

Skills and Competencies:
  • Standing: Long periods (a minimum of 6 hours)
  • Sitting: Occasionally for short periods
  • Walking: Frequently
  • Bending: Occasionally
  • Lifting: Light (less than 30 lbs) frequently
  • Carrying: Light (30-50 lbs) infrequently distance - 100 ft
  • Pushing/Pulling: under 75 lbs without assistance infrequently
  • Ability to work at heights approaching 85 feet, with roof heights at 100 feet (no vertigo)
  • Able to tolerate cold environments (cooler and warehouse)
