The Opportunity

We're seeking a Director who will define and execute strategies to win in the fast-growing AI hardware space by establishing a competitive advantage with HP's AI-specific and high-performance compute portfolio, reach and routes-to-market, and the breadth and completeness of HP's overall portfolio.

Strategy definition needs to evaluate the existing AI hardware portfolio, the broader market including immediate competition and the broader servers, system components, interconnects, and HPC platform categories. You will define the execution roadmap, work closely with product teams to define product roadmaps and pricing & packaging, with sales and marketing to define the appropriate GTM including partner strategy, work with HP's Commercial Organization to shape market entry and scale plans.

In addition to focusing on AI hardware, you will also support other hardware businesses at HP including peripherals, video conferencing, and industrial solutions-including retail and manufacturing verticals.

This is a high-visibility role reporting to the Head of HP Solutions Strategy, ideal for a leader who blends deep technical acumen with strong business operations expertise, thrives in ambiguity, and can influence senior executives and lead cross-functional teams. You'll work directly with Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Supply Chain. You are expected to bring the customer perspective to understand demand and market trends, have experience working directly with ODMs, and engage frequently with industry and analyst groups (such as IDC, Gartner) to shape a successful strategy in these fast-evolving spaces.

What You'll Do

  • Develop multi-year trends and market conditions that inform portfolio strategy and investments for AI hardware (Edge AI devices, Advanced Compute solutions), peripherals, video conferencing, and industrial solutions (retail, manufacturing, and others)
  • Track the overall server landscape to identify overlaps with edge AI devices and common workloads
  • Support strategic account pursuits, customer pilots, lighthouse accounts, and reference designs spanning data center + edge architectures.
  • Track the overall landscape in peripherals, video conferencing, and industrial solutions to identify key value drivers to increase market share and improve profitability
  • Identify customer pain-points and use cases to derive demand and market segmentation, TAM/SAM/SOM, and align customer value propositions to workloads (training, inference at edge, computer vision, RAG, simulation).
  • Evaluate the core-to-edge architecture strategy: data center training + edge inference and required software components to bring solutions to life.
  • Develop growth strategies and partnerships required to gain share in the video conferencing market.
  • Work with software and solutions strategy, product, and GTM teams to develop vertical solutions that drive customer value proposition leveraging HP's full portfolio of devices, software and services.
  • Build and execute GTM plans across enterprise and channel partners; own launch strategy and readiness (pricing, packaging, enablement, content).
  • Develop ODMs/OEMs and ecosystem partnerships (accelerator vendors, firmware/OS stacks, payment ISVs, device management platforms) to drive scale and velocity.
  • Lead key strategic initiatives for the HP leadership team and Board of Directors in and adjacent to AI hardware, AI platforms, peripherals, video conferencing, and industrial solutions in key verticals
  • Own business cases, pricing & packaging choices, product lifecycle strategy, and margin management.
  • Support and pressure test forecasting and portfolio optimization.
  • Define and track KPIs such as, revenue, GM%, share, pipeline, win rates, attach, partner adoption, MTBF/MTTR, deployment velocity, certification lead times, etc.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team; influence senior leaders with crisp, data-driven storytelling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 10-12 years of total experience in the high-tech industry, product management, corporate strategy, management consulting, investment banking, or a related field, preferably within a Fortune 500 environment.
  • Strategic Mindset: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute scalable GTM strategies that drive revenue growth and customer retention.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, strategy frameworks, and project management tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in market analysis, customer segmentation, and channel strategy development.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with expertise in influencing and inspiring stakeholders.
