Position Summary

Samsung SDSA is seeking an energetic Datacenter Semiconductor Infrastructure Technician (often referred to as a Data Center Facility Technician or IT Infrastructure Technician) for our manufacturing campus in Taylor, Texas. The IT Infrastructure Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the physical hardware, power, and cooling systems that support 24/7 Production Data Center environments. This role will be working fully onsite – 7:00pm-7:00am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday; every other Wednesday and occasional day shift support per business needs. Technician must live within an hour from north Taylor, TX.

Responsibilities

  • 24 hours/7 days Infrastructure and Equipment health monitoring and operation in Data Centers and site IDF/Telecommunication Rooms based on given SOP (standard Operation Procedures)
  • Support Tier 1 asks from OS Level
  • Rack, stack, install, configure, decommission, and replace servers and storage systems
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and component-level replacements (drives, memory, power supplies, NICs)
  • Ensure equipment is received, stored, documented, tracked, installed, readied for use, properly offboarded at the time of decommissioned according to data center standards and best practices utilizing provided DCIM tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, application, and network connectivity issues
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory records and system documentation supporting the full life-cycle of hardware within the provided DCIM
  • Collaborate with engineer teams to ensure integration of infrastructure in Datacenter and DCIM
  • Perform periodic Datacenter facility monitoring and visual checkups for environment, power and devices maintained in supported spaces as defined by SOP
  • Create, maintain and update SOPs related to you role. Perform all tasks following all security protocols in place for Samsung Austin Semiconductor.
  • Maintain all supported Data Centers, site IDF/Telecommunication Rooms and Storage spaces in terms of safety, cleanliness and organization
  • Assist with power, cabling, low voltage, generator, cooling related facility
  • Creation and tracking to completion for Service Requests related to the maintained Data Center/Rooms internally and maintained infrastructure equipment (Cabinets/PDUs/Sensors) with external vendors.
  • Schedule and provide escort of approved visitors to above mentioned areas for maintenance and vendor troubleshooting and where needed.

Requirements

  • Experience working in 24/7 Production or mission-critical data centers
  • Experience with Atlassian ticketing system (Jira) or similar
  • Strong understanding of server, storage, and networking hardware
    Dell/HP/Oracle servers, DellEMC/NetApp/Hitachi/Pure/Brocade SAN/Cisco SAN Storage devices, Oracle Exadata Appliances, Smart PDUs (Legrand is a plus)
  • Familiarity with basic operating system installation practice
  • Experience working in data center or mission-critical environments preferred
  • Demonstrates experience with proper escalation procedures for environmental, power and equipment issues
  • Linux, Windows, Storage, Network certification preferred
  • Capability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and move between different onsite locations at reasonable pace
  • Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights as required
  • Experiences on iDRAC, iLO, BMC (Baseboard Management Controllers)
  • Ability to maintain clean work areas and provide methods of improvement to areas.
  • Flexibility to work different shift with prior authorization
