Job description

POSITION SUMMARYThe Housing Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Neighbor Services department in processing new and existing Rent Assistance requests, while also providing support to the Front desk staff and the Graceworkers.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  1. Deliver outstanding customer service while exhibiting compassion and respect towards all individuals within the community
  2.  Review initial rent assistance requests, gather supporting documentation, communicate with neighbors and landlords, approve and submit payment requests
  3. Document and update neighbors accounts based on interactions and services provided
  4. Handle Neighbors inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  5. Act as backup for Front Desk staff when needed
  6. Provides support to the Neighbor Services team
  7. Schedule Food appointments
  8. Provide neighbors with information and other resources for additional support
  9. Understand and follows the Shelter program guidelines
  10. Participates in GraceWorks’ fundraising events and outreach events.
  11. Answer phone calls and respond to email inquiries in a timely manner
  12. Maintain confidentiality of Neighbor’s information
  13. Work collaboratively with community partners and Services Providers
  14. Able to react to change productively and handle all other duties/essential tasks as assigned.
  15. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, or related field preferred.

OTHER SKILLS

Proficiency in both English and Spanish is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; motivated, energetic self-starter with strong problem-solving skills; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; computer literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel; ability to learn new database systems; highly developed organizational, planning and oral and written communication skills; excellent time and self-management skills; strong sense of initiative and ability to work under pressure on multiple projects; ability to work independently and as a part of a team

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position involves everyday risks or discomforts that require standard safety precautions. Position requires standing on concrete floors and lifting of up to 20 lbs and moving items on occasion
