Job description

The Housing Advocacy Specialist - Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP) plays a key role in the program by processing assistance requests, supporting participants in submitting required documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate data entry in a fast-paced environment. You'll provide referrals to other relevant programs, offer in-person support to participants, and engage in community outreach to raise awareness of available services.

In addition to assisting with applications, you'll collaborate with agency teams to deliver comprehensive services to participants and stay up to date on any changes in program guidelines or regulations through ongoing training. You'll also be responsible for connecting participants to additional resources and services within the community, ensuring they receive the full support needed.(Full position description will be shared with applicants selected for in-person interviews; to request full description, call 507-316-0610.)

This full-time position (40 hours per week) is Monday-Friday and will be based in Rochester. Starting pay is $24.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in social work or another applicable field
  • Ability to pass a required background study, as defined by the position
  • Current, valid driver's license in good standing, as defined by the agency's insurance provider, unless explicitly approved otherwise by the supervisor)
  • Current, valid personal automobile insurance, unless explicitly approved otherwise by the supervisor
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English, especially Spanish or Somali
  • Relevant lived experience, as applicable to the role
