Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees who provide cleaning service and floor care to more than 40,000 campus customers in the maintenance and operation of the University's 18 million plus square feet over 300 teaching, research, medical, administrative, residential, athletic and library buildings. Housekeeping Services is committed to fostering a culture of civility and respect for its diverse workforce as part of its commitment to being a leading building and environment services organization within a leading public institution.
Position Summary
The position functions as a trainer for Housekeeping Services including conducting new hire orientations, Operating System 1 (OS1) training and other training programs for cleaning, safety, ergonomics and other topics.
*Must have a valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to start date.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management Preferences
Demonstrated experience in institutional or commercial cleaning, including training employees on custodial procedures, commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals, best practices, and team-cleaning methodologies, preferably within a university, healthcare, or medical environment.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and to develop written documents, reports, and procedures.
Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Ability to independently research and resolve questions or issues that fall outside standard operating procedures by consulting appropriate policies, manuals, and subject matter experts.
Required Licenses/Certifications
*Must have a valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to start date.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
This position is designated as mandatory and requires the employee to report to work to support critical University operations during adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including public health emergencies or situations that may result in University closure.
Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion.
Employees must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
