Overview:

Sentara is currently hiring a Monitor Technician to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital on the Telemetry Monitor Surveillance team.

Hours/Shift:

Full-time, dayshift.Approximately 7am to 7pm

Department/Position Overview:

Join our telemetry monitor surveillance team onsite at Sentara Leigh Hospital. In this role, you will work with a team of 4 telemetry techs and an RN to monitor inpatients across all nursing units along with rotating shifts to the Emergency Department to monitor patients. Knowledge of reading and analyzing arrhythmias is preferred. Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) preferred. Our staff's longevity and teamwork make this a great place to work!

Observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.

Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire. Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.

To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam.

Experience

One year of EKG/Monitor Tech experience preferred.
