Job Summary:
The Surgery Scheduling Manager will be responsible to manage and coordinate all clinical and surgical encounters, including clinic appointments, referrals, authorizations, and pre-surgical requirements. The Surgery Scheduling Manager will help ensure a smooth scheduling and a high level of patient care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate all administrative and clinical support activities for patient eye surgeries (such as cataract, glaucoma, retina, and LASIK).
  • Optimize surgical block time, manage provider schedules, and maintain active waitlists.
  • Coordinate pre-op testing, medical clearances, and necessary equipment like Intraocular Lenses (IOLs).
  • Partner with the billing and revenue cycle teams to verify insurance, secure prior authorizations, and provide financial cost estimates to patients.
  • Serve as the main contact for patients, families, and surgical facilities to ensure clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred for management-level tracks.
  • Experience: 2+ years of surgical scheduling experience, ideally within an ophthalmology or specialized clinical setting.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) software, medical terminology, and insurance verification workflows.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication, empathy to reduce patient anxiety, and strong organizational skills.
