Description
Title: Maintenance Manager Reports to: Plant Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt Location: All
Direct Reports: All hourly maintenance personnel
Summary:
The Maintenance Manager oversees and trains in preventive and reactive maintenance duties required for the 24/7 manufacturing operations of the plant. Priorities include management and execution of PM schedules, repair of any equipment that is needed to maintain maximum production rates and maintenance of an adequate spare parts inventory. This position is managed by the plant Maintenance Mechanic.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
  • Maintain adequate inventories of spare parts and equipment
  • Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to the Plant Manager
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept in a proper and safe working condition
  • Practice proper forklift operation and preventive maintenance
  • Direct and ensure that all scheduled Preventive Maintenance duties are completed
  • Maintain facility housekeeping
  • Communicate with all plant personnel
  • Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
  • Communicate with PLP support services
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment that is not operating properly
  • Manage plant maintenance budget
  • Effectively manage UPTIME performance
  • Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by the manager
  • Understand and practice PLP CORE VALUES
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 quality certification requirements
  • Other duties assigned

Job Skills:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
  • Advanced industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic and pneumatic skills, including troubleshooting
  • Understand the purpose and proper use of small hand and power tools
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills
  • Inventory management
  • Self-motivation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and communicate with other plant personnel
  • Facility organization
  • Management of pm program/cmms
  • Basic computer skills

Educational Requirements:
  • High School / Vocational School Diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical Engineering degree is a plus

Preferred Experience:
  • 3-5 years of previous experience managing a maintenance department
  • Extrusion experience strongly preferred
  • Plastic pipe extrusion and/or cnc machine maintenance a plus

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes
  • Position requires full range of body motion, including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and the ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles
