Job description

                                                                                    Location: Districtwide (Maintenance)
                                                                           Hourly position (Up to 37.5 hours per week)

Position Summary: Performs general maintenance and repair of Juneau School District buildings and properties. 
Essential Duties: 


  • Will perform the duties of ground labor, including, but not limited to mowing lawns and weed triming.
  • Safely operate equipment, such as lawn tractors, lawn mower, string trimmer, chain saws, and leaf blower.
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of hand tools to perform grounds keeping duties.
  • Operates vehicles incidentail to maintenance work and transport materials and supplies to the job site.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience working with children.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and able to obtain a commercial driver's license. 

Preferred Knowledge of: 

  • Safety standards and practices.
  • Grounds keeping equipment.

Ability to: 

  • Effectively communicate with staff and members of the public verbally, in writing, or by using a computer.
  • Operate a computer or tablet as related to daily facilities and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and members of the public.
  • Work independenty or as a team member to achieve the goals of the school district. 


Compensation: This is a temporary hourly position, working up to 37.5 hours per week for up to 30 days from June 1 - August 14, 2026. The starting salary is $25.60 per hour. Summer hourly work is entered into soley for the purposes of operating in an hourly position with JSD outside of the instructional school calendar. Summer employees who work more than 15 hours a week between the dates of May 26 - August 14, 2026 will provide services for a term of no more than 30 days within a classificaiton. 
 

Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a criminal background check.
