Systems Integration and Test Engineer - Mid-Level

LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL

JOB STATUS: Full-time

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an SE-3 Systems Integration and Test Engineer located at Eglin AFB, FL.

The Datalinks Test Flight is searching for a degreed computer scientist or engineer with knowledge in software development/scripting and some work experience who is interested in designing, constructing, and supporting test and evaluation (T&E) systems in our Advanced Datalinks Test Lab (ADTL).  If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and being on the cutting edge of innovative digital communications technology, this is the place for you. We realize that no one will possess all the qualifications listed below. We are looking for people that have a strong computer science or engineering education, relevant knowledge and have the drive and motivation to learn other required areas.  Position responsibilities can span from assisting a project team lead as a team member to leading a project team.

This position provides support for the 46 Test Squadron/TGBC at Eglin AFB in the Systems Integration and Test Engineer role. This is NOT a remote position; however, limited telework opportunities may be authorized as mission requirements allow. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or other relevant technical fields and 3 - 10 years of experience.  Additional experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, and approval for both a TS/SCI clearance and Special Access Programs.
  • Superior organization, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent self-initiative and self-motivation.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
  • Strong work ethic; Comfortable working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel both CONUS and OCONUS, as needed. Travel time could be up to 25%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS  

  • Understanding of digital data RF systems or data links, and their employment.
  • Experience with Python scripting.
  • Experience working with both the Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with software and/or hardware testing.
  • Development of automated test tools or test fixtures.
  • Possess a current and active Top Secret security clearance with SCI Eligibility.

RESPOSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain ADTL test support hardware, software, and scripts in compliance with established security guidelines.
  • Hands on integration, operation, and maintenance of hardware and electrical components, including using electrical measurement tools for verification and validation.
  • Analyze failures associated with test equipment and provide recommended solutions.
  • Assist Test Engineers with design and development of test architectures and solutions.
  • Review Technical documentation to gather data on which systems will be designed and supported.
  • Interface with program offices in developing engineering solutions.
  • Assist test teams with integration of engineered solutions into test plans, concept of operations, test cards, data-analysis plans, and formal reports.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library and/or continuity database for engineering solutions.
  • Develop and present briefings to test community, program office and senior-level personnel on proposed or operational engineered solutions.
  • Travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations.
  • Participate in planning, execution, data analysis, report generation, etc., of program-related activities.
  • Support any additional activities as assigned by TGBC leadership.
