Job description

The Cost Accountant at Kurz Transfer Products plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence by analyzing manufacturing cost structures, monitoring product line profitability, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position requires a strong understanding of production processes—including but not limited to coating, stamping, logistics, and material flow—to provide meaningful insights that guide decision making across operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance. The analyst evaluates standard and actual costs, investigates variances, supports inventory valuation, and contributes to both monthly financial close and annual financial audit process. Success in this role depends on strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with SAP financial modules, GAAP/IFRS standards, and advanced reporting tools.

  • Evaluate sales performance (pricing, volumes), manufacturing cost components (variable, fixed), machine hourly rates, production efficiencies, scrap/waste levels, and inventory movements to determine true product line profitability across KTP’s coating and stamping operations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of KTP’s production workflows, material logistics, and market price levels to ensure cost models accurately reflect real operational conditions.
  • Compare standard cost expectations with actual production results to identify discrepancies, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to operations, engineering, and supply chain teams.
  • Oversee valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; reconcile inventory data during monthend closing; validate material movements; and ensure accuracy of SAP inventory records.
  • Partner with department managers to develop, adjust, and monitor budgets by analysing fixed costs (surcharges, salaries, overhead allocations) and variable costs (materials, packaging, freight, consumables).
  • Assist with journal entries, costcenter reviews, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities to ensure timely and accurate monthend closure.
  • Support the annual budgeting cycle, prepare cost models, and provide documentation and analysis required for external financial audits.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, logistics, procurement, and quality teams to validate cost assumptions, improve data accuracy, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyse scrap, rework, and machine downtime to identify costsaving opportunities and support operational teams in implementing corrective actions.
  • Apply knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and consistency across reporting and costanalysis activities.
  • Use SAP FI, CO, and COPA modules, along with MS Excel and BW Reporting, to extract data, build cost models, and prepare detailed financial and operational reports.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Cost Analysis: Experienced in inventory product costing, margin calculation, and standard costing systems.
