How much do hourly financial analyst jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 18, 2026, the average yearly pay for hourly financial analyst in the United States is $88,111.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $70,000.00 and $110,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can financial advisors make $500,000 a year?

Financial analysts typically do not earn $500,000 annually, as this level of income is more common among highly experienced financial advisors or those in senior roles with extensive client portfolios. Achieving such earnings often requires advanced certifications, a strong client base, and performance-based bonuses or commissions. Most financial analysts earn a median salary significantly lower than this figure, depending on experience and location.

Is AI replacing financial analysts?

AI is transforming the role of financial analysts by automating data analysis and reporting tasks, allowing analysts to focus on strategic decision-making. While AI tools can handle routine work, human judgment remains essential for interpreting complex financial data and providing insights. Financial analysts who develop skills in data analysis, programming, and AI tools will remain valuable in the evolving job market.

What jobs pay $500,000 a year in the US?

High-paying roles for financial analysts are rare, with senior or specialized positions such as chief financial officers, investment bankers, hedge fund managers, and private equity executives often earning $500,000 or more annually. These roles typically require extensive experience, advanced degrees, strong analytical skills, and often involve performance-based bonuses or profit sharing. Entry-level or standard financial analyst positions generally do not reach this salary level.

Is 35 too late to get into finance?

The hourly financial analyst role typically requires relevant education and skills, but age is not a barrier to entering finance. Many professionals transition into finance careers later in life by gaining certifications like the CFA or completing relevant training. Success depends on your background, skills, and willingness to learn new tools and concepts.

Employer UsageUsed by companies for project-based or temporary workUsed for part-time roles with ongoing responsibilities

Both roles involve financial analysis tasks and similar credentials, but the key difference lies in scheduling and employment type. Hourly Financial Analysts are paid per hour with flexible schedules, while Part-Time Financial Analysts work fewer hours but often with a set schedule. Understanding these distinctions helps job seekers find roles that match their availability and career goals.

Financial Analyst 3338641

  • Hourly pay: $30/hr
  • Worksite: Leading medical institution (San Francisco, CA 94158 - Hybrid: 3 days onsite with work from home on other days)
  • W2 Employment, Group Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement Savings Program, PSL
  • 40 hours/week, 6-8 Month Assignment (Can vary)

A leading medical institution is seeking a Financial Analyst to support high-volume accounts payable operations, financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong accounting or finance professional who can work independently in a complex environment, analyze financial data, resolve operational issues, and collaborate across finance, procurement, and business teams. The ideal candidate combines deep accounts payable knowledge with broader analytical, reporting, reconciliation, and process improvement experience.

Financial Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Analyze accounts payable operations, invoice workflows, payment processing activities, and financial data to identify trends, resolve issues, improve efficiency, and ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
  • Manage high-volume invoice processing activities, including invoice coding, credit memos, approval routing, payment requests, budget and compliance reviews, and procure-to-pay policy adherence.
  • Research, investigate, and resolve complex invoice, payment, vendor, electronic invoicing, tax, and outstanding payment issues while providing guidance to internal departments and external vendors.
  • Perform reconciliations, operational reporting, financial analysis, ad hoc reporting, and process improvement initiatives to support departmental performance, compliance, and decision-making.
  • Create, maintain, and analyze reports using ERP systems and Excel; monitor work queues, service level agreements, and key operational metrics to ensure efficient financial operations.
  • Support financial controls, sales and use tax compliance, 1099 reporting requirements, documentation management, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, and operational stakeholders to improve processes, support system enhancements, and drive operational excellence.
  • Assist with Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation activities, user support, issue resolution, and process optimization efforts as needed.

Financial Analyst Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of accounting, finance, accounts payable analysis, or financial operations experience.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Experience in a hospital, healthcare, university, or similarly complex organizational environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the full accounts payable lifecycle, including invoice processing, payment processing, vendor management, reconciliations, compliance, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience performing financial analysis, account reconciliations, reporting, operational analysis, and process improvement initiatives beyond transactional AP processing.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud (Oracle Financials Cloud) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with GHX is preferred.
  • Experience with large ERP systems and the ability to quickly learn new financial platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing large datasets, creating reports, and identifying trends.

Shift:

  • Hybrid: Regularly 3 days onsite with work from home on other days. On-site work depends on need, such as more on-site work for training and Oracle system implementation go-live.
