Summary:
This position is committed to working with individuals, groups and college students in the residence hall environment. Candidates work period is for an academic year (August 15 -May 15). This is a 9-month full-time position.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assist the Residence Hall Director in implementing, monitoring and reporting on all programs, designed to promote the growth and development of students.
โ€ข Assist the Residence Hall Director in orientation of new students to the University as well as the Residence Hall.
โ€ข Assist the Residence Hall Director in enforcing Residence Hall policies and regulations.
โ€ข Assist the Residence Hall Director in maintaining records and reports for incidents, damages and repairs.
โ€ข Counsel and advise students and/or refers to appropriate resource persons.
โ€ข Duties may be performed or assigned on other designated shifts and/or buildings as necessary.
โ€ข Performs related duties as required.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences, Student Personnel, Human Sciences, or related fields.
โ€ข Some experience with providing customer service, hotel front desk, resident assistant, security guard, military housing, building maintenance, and/or other related work experience.
โ€ข Counseling, group work, human relations training, and other related duties are a plus.
โ€ข Or High school diploma or equivalent with some experience in customer service, counseling experience, group work, or human relations training, and four or more years of work experience in the following areas: residential living, residence hall living, security guard, military housing clerk, reservations, housing logistics, hotel front desk experience, or group home experience.
Supplemental Information
Conditions of Employment:
  • Required to work on campus during usual break periods (i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, etc.).
  • Must be able to work on the weekend.

Physical Requirement:
  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs
  • Must be able to stand for a long period of time
  • Must be able to lift up a minimum of 20 pounds
