Job Title: MEP Project Manager

Job Description

This role leads and coordinates multi-disciplinary engineering project teams within the MEP industry, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard. The Project Manager oversees the full project lifecycle, from internal kickoff and design coordination through construction administration, while maintaining strong communication with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the work of multi-discipline teams comprised of engineers, designers, and interns throughout all phases of assigned projects.
  • Maintain detailed, up-to-date knowledge of the status of all ongoing projects under management, including scope, schedule, budget, and key milestones.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, actively monitoring project costs, deadlines, and change orders to keep projects on track.
  • Conduct internal project kickoff meetings with assigned personnel to align on scope, negotiate schedules, and confirm budget expectations.
  • Monitor, organize, and distribute both internal and external project communications to ensure information flows effectively among all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the preparation, quality, and timely delivery of project deliverables at each phase of the project.
  • Actively drive cross-discipline coordination between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines at each stage of the project.
  • Assign and oversee project personnel for specific phases or aspects of the project, including technical research, project design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
  • Lead design team meetings, remove obstacles, and ensure deadlines are consistently met across all project activities.
  • Manage engineering reviews and QA/QC analysis for each project phase, compiling and publishing the results of each review.
  • Interface regularly with clients, sub-consultants, external firms, and contractors to provide project status updates and ensure project requirements and customer needs are met.
  • Coordinate and schedule site visits with project team members to support design, coordination, and construction activities.
  • Manage construction administration activities, including reviewing and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of project management experience, specifically within the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) industry.
  • Proven experience in project management and project coordination for commercial projects such as hotels, medical offices, banks, schools, and entertainment facilities.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project schedules and budgets, including tracking costs, deadlines, and change orders.
  • Strong skills in coordinating multi-discipline engineering teams and facilitating cross-discipline collaboration.
  • Experience overseeing technical research, project design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
  • Ability to manage engineering reviews and QA/QC processes and document the results clearly.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage internal and external project communications and provide clear project status reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed knowledge of multiple ongoing projects.
  • Capability to lead meetings, remove obstacles, and drive teams to meet project deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred but not required.
  • Professional engineering license is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working closely with clients, sub-consultants, external firms, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Comfort with construction administration tasks, including RFI and submittal review.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional engineering office environment with frequent collaboration among multi-discipline teams. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the opportunity to work remotely 2 to 3 days per week, depending on project needs. Project work focuses on commercial facilities such as hotels, medical offices, banks, schools, and entertainment venues, and includes periodic site visits to active or prospective project locations. Pay and Benefits

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
