Frontier Hospitality Group

Job description

About the Role

Frontier Hospitality Group is looking for a dynamic, hands-on Relief Operations Manager to join our hotel management team. This is not a desk job - you'll be the person who parachutes into a hotel when it needs you most: covering leadership gaps, stabilizing operations after a management departure, supporting teams through system rollouts or renovations, and stepping in during peak-season crunches or unexpected staffing shortfalls.

You'll travel from property to property across our portfolio, acting as an on-the-ground operations leader, mentor, and steady hand - helping general managers and department heads keep the hotel running smoothly while reinforcing culture, service standards, and employee morale along the way. Frontier Hospitality Group had 8 properties across the Quad Cities and East Peoria, IL, region.

Ideal Candidate

You thrive on variety and new challenges. You genuinely enjoy people and can read a room (or an entire hotel staff) within days of arriving. You're equally comfortable troubleshooting a housekeeping schedule, sitting down with a struggling front desk agent, or briefing ownership on what a property needs to get back on track. You see every relief assignment as an opportunity to leave a hotel - and its people - better than you found it.

What You'll Do

  • Deploy to hotels to provide interim operational leadership during staffing gaps, transitions, or emergencies
  • Oversee day-to-day hotel operations across departments (front office, housekeeping, F&B, maintenance) while on assignment
  • Assess each property's operational health and implement quick, practical fixes to close performance or service gaps
  • Coach, train, and support on-site staff and supervisors - building confidence and capability, not just plugging holes
  • Support employee relations efforts: conflict resolution, morale-building, and reinforcing a healthy team culture during high-stress periods
  • Ensure brand standards, safety protocols, and SOPs are upheld at every property you support
  • Partner with leadership to communicate property status, risks, and recommendations
  • Assist with onboarding new managers or teams following leadership changes
  • Step in for general manager or department head duties as needed during vacancies or leaves

What You Bring

  • 4+ years of hotel operations management experience, ideally across multiple departments
  • Proven ability to walk into unfamiliar environments and quickly build trust, assess needs, and take charge
  • Strong people leadership skills - someone employees want to work for, especially during hard moments
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Flexibility to travel (expect 75%+ travel)
  • Working knowledge of hotel PMS systems, labor scheduling, and budget basics
  • A calm, adaptable, and resilient mindset - every property and every assignment is different
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel by car

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Travel expenses, lodging, and transportation covered
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401K, life insurance, FSA, short term disability
  • Holidays
  • Vacation and Sick Time
  • Hotel discounts
  • The chance to make a visible, meaningful impact across an entire portfolio of hotels
