Department: Sales & Marketing
Reports To: General Manager
Location: San Antonio, TX
Position Level: Department Head
Role Purpose

Lead the hotel’s commercial strategy by driving revenue performance, developing key partnerships, and strengthening market position across extended‑stay, government, military, medical, and corporate segments. Ensure alignment with IHG brand standards, revenue strategies, and long‑term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute the annual Sales & Marketing Plan
  • Identify revenue opportunities across all key segments
  • Partner with Revenue Management on pricing, forecasting, and channel optimization
  • Monitor market trends, comp‑set activity, and demand shifts
Business Development

  • Conduct proactive outside sales and account acquisition
  • Build and maintain relationships with high‑value accounts
  • Manage RFPs, negotiated rate agreements, and long‑term stay contracts
  • Conduct site visits, presentations, and account reviews
Account Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing corporate, government, and military partners
  • Ensure account retention through consistent communication and service delivery
  • Oversee group blocks, extended‑stay accounts, and special projects
Brand & Operational Alignment

  • Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with Operations to support group and long‑term stay execution
  • Represent the hotel at community events, trade shows, and industry functions
  • Maintain accurate sales activity logs, reports, and forecasts
Leadership & Culture

  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to the sales team (if applicable)
  • Promote IHG’s Winning Ways and a culture of accountability
  • Support cross‑departmental collaboration to enhance guest experience
Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of hotel sales leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of extended‑stay, government, and corporate travel segments
  • IHG experience preferred (Merlin, Concerto, GRS, Business Edge)
  • Proven ability to drive revenue and develop accounts
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
