Environmental Services Manager


The Environmental Services Manager maintains housekeeping and laundry services, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and clean environment for all patients, visitors, and employees. This position plans, develops, organizes, directs, and controls operations of the Environmental Services Department and upholds requirements of Joint Commission standards and federal, state, and local regulations. In addition, the position provides direct supervision and guidance to environmental services staff, as well as laundry staff as appropriate.


Responsibility and Tasks

  • Plans and orders inventory to optimize cost of supplies.
  • Ensures adequate equipment and supplies are made available; conducts periodic inventory.
  • Works with supervisors for proper vendor use: bio-hazard material disposal, linens, trash/recycling.
  • Develops appropriate and compliant contracts with vendors to ensure quality products and services.
  • Collaborates with Nursing and Admissions to ensure patient rooms are ready for patient arrivals.
  • Manages salary costs of the department, including management of payroll and staffing.
  • Performs routine and isolation cleaning procedures, floor care, and distribution of linen.
  • Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 5+ years of experience
  • Previous housekeeping experience required
  • Previous management/supervisory experience required
