Veterinary Hospital Housekeeper
At VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital, maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment is essential to patient care, infection prevention, and the overall experience of our patients, clients, and Associates.
We're seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Veterinary Hospital Housekeeper to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation throughout our specialty and emergency veterinary hospital. This role is an important part of supporting patient safety and ensuring our clinical teams have a clean and safe environment in which to provide care.

Essential Job Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Hospital Housekeeper, you'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the hospital.
Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms, surgical suites, treatment areas, isolation units, kennels, and other hospital areas

  • Clean lobby areas, check-in desks, staff areas, restrooms, and other common spaces

  • Sweep, scrub, mop, and maintain facility floors

  • Use appropriate veterinary-grade cleaning and disinfecting products according to established procedures

  • Promptly clean and sanitize biological spills and other messes to help prevent cross-contamination

  • Support hospital infection-prevention and sanitation standards

Waste & Environmental Services
  • Safely handle, segregate, and dispose of biohazardous materials, sharps, contaminated bedding, and routine facility waste in accordance with applicable requirements

  • Maintain appropriate cleanliness and sanitation in patient-care and support areas

  • Report safety, sanitation, maintenance, or environmental concerns to appropriate team members

Laundry & Supplies
  • Wash, sanitize, dry, fold, and restock surgical linens, patient blankets, and staff scrubs

  • Maintain appropriate supplies of cleaning products, personal protective equipment (PPE), paper products, and other housekeeping materials

  • Monitor supply levels and communicate replenishment needs

  • Maintain clean and organized housekeeping and supply areas

Required Qualifications
  • Previous janitorial, housekeeping, environmental services, or related experience

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment

  • Comfort working around animals and exposure to biological materials

  • Ability to safely use cleaning products and hospital-grade chemicals in accordance with established procedures

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

  • Ability to follow established cleaning, sanitation, safety, and infection-prevention procedures

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience in a medical, veterinary, healthcare, or hospital setting

  • Experience with hospital or veterinary-grade cleaning and disinfecting products

  • Experience handling biohazardous materials or contaminated materials

  • Experience working in a veterinary hospital or animal-care environment
