Teacher - NJROTC Senior Naval Science Instructor position. Must have a Bachelor's degree or higher. Have at least 8 years of active duty in the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard. Separated from services within the past 5 years, or have 8 years of creditable services and an active member of Navy Reserves and Must be certified to teach JROTC by HQ Naval Education and Training Command. Job Summary
The duties of this individual will be to direct and evaluate the learning experiences of students in both curricular and extracurricular activities.
Essential Duties
  • Teach the Naval Science curriculum.
  • Instruct cadets in military drill

  • Mentor and counsel students.

  • Manage government-furnished equipment like uniforms and training aids.

Other Duties
  • Plan extracurricular activities, such as drill teams and field trips

  • Maintain financial accounts related to the NJROTC program.

  • Keep up with Navy developments and complete required training.

  • Maintain a current copy of the NSTC 5761-106 (08-22)
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned

Job Specifications
Responsible for carrying out the policies, rules and regulations of Horry County Schools and other responsibilities as directed by the principal.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)
  • Certification as required by Naval Service Training Command (NSTC).
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree
  • Other professional and personal qualifications as deemed necessary for acceptable fulfillment of responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
  • Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
