ROLE SUMMARY:Our Supply group is responsible for brewing, packaging and shipping the famous Budweiser beer. They also oversee aluminum can manufacturing, barley fields, hop farms and a rice mill. Life in the brewery is non-stop action with high-speed lines, tight production schedules and unbelievablyhigh-qualitystandards. This is a place where we measure productivity in seconds, not hours, days or weeks. Paramount in all of this is a commitment to safety above all else and social responsibility. 99.8% of everything that enters our breweries is either completely used in the process or recycled. We also dedicate those big, high-speed lines to help our communities during times of disaster by packaging cans of emergency drinking water. Our customers expect the best and the Supply team provides it.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety First. Must adhere to all PPE policies, hold others accountable, and perform work consistently with a safety focused mindset.

  • Quality Always. Must always prioritize quality over quantity.

  • Follow SOPs and reaction plans to ensure consistent results

  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment through routine sanitation and 5S principles

  • Take ownership of laboratory equipment: cleaning, calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting

  • Enter data and analyze using digital systems such as Excel, Smartsheet, SharePoint, etc.

  • Collect and analyze samples throughout brewing and packaging processes for chemical, physical, microbiological, and sensory properties

  • Collect and analyze raw materials to determine their fit for use

  • Clearly communicate with lab and production peers, as well as management, to efficiently produce products that adhere to our quality standards

  • Block finished goods when they do not meet quality standards, and perform additional testing to determine compliance

  • Attend and participate in all lab meetings

  • Perform computer-based work to fulfill brewery and department responsibilities, including updating digital files, computer-based learning, etc.

  • Perform PhysChem duties: Alcolyzer, pH meter, VDK by GC, TPO/CO2 analysis, PQCs, seam analysis, gehaltemeter readings, keg sampling

  • Perform microbiology duties: sample collection, media prep, sample plating, use of the autoclave

  • Perform wastewater duties: sample collection, basic tasks, and daily analysis with supervision

  • Perform sensory duties: assist in administering sensory sessions, clean and organize retain areas, participation in sensory program

  • Participate in brewery-wide and laboratory specific safety, quality, engagement, and efficiency initiatives

  • Follow all policies to ensure food safety standards are met: follow GMPs, verify CCPs, perform product blocks

  • Learn and expand knowledge through training and research to help solve complex issues

  • Collaborate to continuously improve processes, with a focus on the quality of our products

  • Flexibility to cover quality duties as needed

  • Complete weekend duty on a rotating basis

  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Fermentation Science, Food Science, or other related programs and/or 2 years previous laboratory experience in food/beverage industry required.

  • Previous laboratory experience or 1+ years brewing industry experience

  • Quality and/or Brewing certifications preferred: IBD, MBAA, Cicerone, HACCP, SQF, etc.

  • Strong verbal communication, writing skills, and experience with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

  • The ability to complete work in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment while following all safety protocols is a must. Work will need to be completed around active buildings with forklift traffic, high heat/humidity, and chemicals (like highly alkaline or acidic solutions).

  • Able to work independently

  • Basic knowledge of brewing and packaging processes

  • Love of craft beer and a desire to see the best product leave the brewery every time.

  • Ability to handle heavy objects safely and with proper body mechanics - Lift and move objects weighing up to 35 lbs. and occasionally maneuver objects weighing up to 70 lbs. with assistance.

  • Ability to perform work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.

  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time standing and/or walking. Walking surfaces may be wet and/or slippery.

  • Ability to frequently sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.

  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.

  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
