At Voices for Independence, we are improving lives every day. Every department at VFI helps support our mission of empowering people with disabilities and promoting independent living.
Voices For Independence, a nationally recognized Center for Independent Living, proudly serving people with disabilities throughout 27 counties in Pennsylvania, is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starter, to work in our Home Modifications Department. This position will be based out of VFI's Erie, PA office. Weekly travel will be reimbursed by the company when company vehicles are unavailable. Daily travel is expected but travel does not usually consist of overnight or weekend travel.
 

Responsibilities of the job include:

  • Evaluating consumer needs for home modification
  • Conducting feasibility analysis and incorporating consumer input into various home modification designs
  • Schedule and implement installation procedures
  • Identify appropriate contractor(s) for proposed scope-of-work
  • Enforce program requirements of the PA Office of Long-term Living
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and computer skills
  • Knowledge of building codes, ex. electrical and plumbing
  • Conduct home safety inspections

Job qualifications include:

  • General experience in contracting/construction (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.) preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Reliable transportation and a valid PA license to operate a motor vehicle is required
  • Must pass all required clearances (Act 33/34, FBI background check, MA fraud check - employer paid)
  • Must complete 2-step TB testing and attend 2-day new hire training (employer paid)
  • Knowledge of the Disabilities Movement.
