Job Title: Public Policy Development Intern

What You’ll Be Doing: Joining a Political Action Committee

The intern assists with tracking legislative trends to support advocacy campaigns focused on establishing public mental health education and counseling programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mental Health Policy Research: Gather data on mass shootings, addiction, domestic violence, and school dropout rates to demonstrate the empirical impact of low emotional intelligence.
  • Legislative Tracking: Monitor federal and state bills relating to public mental health education, school counseling funding, and public health infrastructure.
  • Advocacy Content: Draft grassroots educational materials, action alerts, policy briefs, and talking points advocating for government-funded public mental health programs.
  • Coalition Support: Attend virtual non-profit and political coalition meetings, tracking legislative opportunities to reprioritize tax dollar dedication.

Qualifications

  • Education: Current student in Public Policy, Political Science, Mental Health Advocacy, Public Health, or related fields.
  • Mission Alignment: Deep passion for elevating national mental and emotional health, expanding counseling access, and integrating emotional intelligence into public education.
  • Location & Availability: Must work remotely during core business hours in the Eastern Time Zone (EST).
  • Skills: Proficiency in digital collaboration (Zoom, Google Workspace), strong written advocacy communication, and objective legislative research abilities.
  • Commitment: Part-time hours (typically 5 hours per week) with flexible scheduling around classes.
