Signature Homes is currently seeking a Drywall Quality Inspector to join our team in our Birmingham, AL market. This role is responsible for inspecting and supporting the drywall process across all Birmingham-area communities, ensuring workmanship meets Signature Homes quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect residential sheetrock installations throughout the construction process by conducting quality walks to ensure work meets company quality standards and trade specifications.
  • Identify drywall installation defects, finishing issues, damage, and workmanship before paint application and subsequent construction stages.
  • Communicate deficiencies and partner with builders and subcontractors to ensure timely correction of issues and prevent recurring defects.
  • Monitor drywall subcontractor performance, identify recurring quality issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new drywall and painting trade partners on company quality standards and expectations.
  • Maintain a high level of field presence across multiple active communities and job sites.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of residential construction experience required; experience with drywall installation, finishing, or painting strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods and quality standards.
  • Ability to identify drywall, texture, and paint defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with subcontractors, builders, and internal team members.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb stairs, and inspect homes under construction.


The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and is comfortable holding trade partners accountable to established standards. They are organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple homes and communities in a fast-paced production environment.
