After-School Homework Club Facilitator

Tulsa City-County Library is looking for individuals with educator experience to help learners in grades 3 through 8 conquer complicated homework assignments with confidence. After-School Homework Club Facilitators are creative and are self-directed while playing a crucial role in transforming homework into a fun and engaging experience.

Working one-to-one with learners registered in the program, ASHC Facilitators guide students through their assignments, schedule appointments, and team up with volunteer Homework Coaches at busy locations. The position reports to the library’s After-School Homework Club Administrator.
Location: Martin Regional Library - 2601 S. Garnett Rd., Tulsa, OK. 74129
Salary: $20.00/hour
Schedule: 12 hours/week (no additional hours available)
Martin Regional Library
Monday - Thursday 5:00-7:30 p.m.
Friday staff meeting from 3-5 p.m.
Start Date: September 2026
End Date: April 2027
Essential Functions:
  1. Oversee day-to-day ASHC student appointments at library;
  2. Provide homework assistance based on student’s assignments and learning needs;
  3. Prepare and bring to work all necessary ASHC equipment and supplies;
  4. Perform student registration and parent orientation activities;
  5. Schedule 30-minute one-to-one homework sessions with ASHC registered students;
  6. Effectively use, instruct on the use of, and promote learning-based library services and resources to students, parents, educators, and to the general public;
  7. Communicate student homework achievements to parents and/or caregivers upon request in person and/or via Remind.com;
  8. Coordinate student appointments for volunteer ASHC Homework Coaches;
  9. Compile end of day student reports;
  10. Participate in all facilitator training sessions, meetings, and workshops;
  11. Actively supports TCCL’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library’s Be All In culture;
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of basic school subjects for grades 3-8 including English, reading, writing, science, and mathematics;
  2. Ability to work effectively with students and adapt instructional strategies;
  3. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, in English;
  4. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and caregivers, ASHC volunteers, and library staff;
  5. Ability to initiate work without close supervision;
  6. Proficiency in conducting Internet and database-driven research;
  7. Ability to use basic productivity software (MS Word and Excel), Internet, email, and various other office machines and equipment;
  8. Ability to travel to individual ASHC site Monday through Thursday and every Friday afternoon attend ASHC meetings held at various library locations.
Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree required.
  2. One to three years’ experience teaching, training, or tutoring elementary or middle-school age students required.
  3. Bilingual English - Spanish preferred.
  4. Or equivalent combination of technical training, education or experience.
  5. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and personal transportation required.
Physical Activity amp; Environmental Conditions:
Work occasionally requires stooping and bending. Occasional light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
There are usually no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
Some positions require considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
