Job description

Holy Family Home (Little Sisters of the Poor) is a Long-Term Care facility that is dedicated to caring for the elders. Holy Family Home provides our Residents with high quality and caring services. Holy Family Home is responsible for the care, comfort and safety of our Residents in all activities of daily living. Holy Family Home is dedicated to treating our Residents and each other as family as well as ensuring we provide a comfortable and friendly place to work.

Holy Family Home is looking for an amazing part time Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to join our family team.

Position requires you to be Up-To-Date flu vaccinated.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • A minimum of grammar school education is essential; a high school education is preferred.
  • Has ability to hear, understand, read, write and communicate effectively, and speak good English. Is able to document observations.
  • Meets the State of Pa requirements for the Certified Nurse Assistant and is currently on the registry.
  • Has good mental and physical health, maturity and responsibility.
  • Must be able to identify and recognize the uniqueness of each resident.
  • Available to work weekends, evening and night shifts

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to use appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Identify and recognize the uniqueness of each Resident including those with dementia.
  • Recognize the changes associated with aging and under the direction of the Nursing Unit Coordinator, being able to adapt Resident care
  • Demonstrate an ability to establish relationships with Residents and families and communicate with respect and dignity.
  • Observe and report to the nurse any changes or observations in Residents' behavior and physical status and adapt to these changes while providing the safest care. Seek guidance using the proper channels of communication.
  • Demonstrate an ability to use appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Recognize common barriers to communications, including language, vision and hearing changes, memory loss and disorientation.
  • Know and use good judgment in responding to behaviors of wandering and combativeness.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all Home information.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively as a team member within Department and with all departments or other disciplines.
  • Observe dress and conduct codes, including wearing identification badge.
  • Meet attendance standards as established and provide proper notice of absence.
  • Complete duties in prescribed time.
  • Attend in-services and department meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORK SETTING/ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily indoors but at times may attend appointments outside the facility or may participate in outdoor activities of the Home. Work environment is well lighted, clean and suitable to tasks performed by the employee within temperature control standards that govern a skilled care facility.
