About the Role
AKAM is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Director of Business Development to lead growth across the South Florida market. This is a true hunter role-ideal for someone who thrives on building pipeline, opening doors, and winning new HOA and condominium management business. In addition to generating revenue, this leader will help mentor junior business development staff and elevate our overall sales culture.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
  • Proactively identify, pursue, and close new HOA and condominium management opportunities
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and strategic partnerships
  • Represent the company at industry events, board meetings, and association functions
  • Lead presentations, RFP responses, and contract negotiations
Market Growth & Strategy
  • Develop and execute a territory growth strategy for the Fort Lauderdale/Miami/West Palm Beach market
  • Identify emerging communities, developments, and management transition opportunities
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and pricing strategies
Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor and support Business Development Managers and junior sales staff
  • Share best practices in prospecting, relationship management, and closing techniques
  • Partner closely with Operations and Executive Leadership to ensure smooth onboarding of new communities
Relationship Management
  • Build trusted relationships with board members, developers, attorneys, and industry partners
  • Serve as a senior ambassador of the brand in the South Florida HOA market
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of business development or sales experience, ideally in property management, HOA/condo, real estate services, or related industries
  • Proven track record as a hunter-consistently generating and closing new business
  • Strong knowledge of the HOA/condominium management landscape in South Florida
  • Experience mentoring or leading sales/business development team members
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Highly self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a performance-driven environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally throughout the region
