What are HMBs?

HMB typically stands for 'Human Milk Bank.' A Human Milk Bank is a facility that collects, screens, processes, and distributes donated human breast milk to infants who need it, especially premature or ill babies whose mothers are unable to provide their own milk. HMBs play a crucial role in neonatal care by ensuring that vulnerable infants can receive safe, pasteurized donor milk, which supports their growth and reduces the risk of certain infections.
