Job description

Church of the Master (Monroeville, OH) Pastor

THE BIG PICTURE

The Church of the Master (https://www.facebook.com/steubenchurchofthemaster/) is in search of a pastor who is committed to our statement of faith and vision.

Requirements

Steuben Church of the Master Statement of Faith

We Believe: the Bible is the inspired, and only infallible and authoritative word of God.

We Believe: in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

We Believe: man is a created being and is a sinner by nature and by choice.

We Believe: salvation is by faith alone in the merits of Christ’s shed blood on the cross of Calvary.

We Believe: the Church is the body of Christ and both a human and divine institution.

We Believe: in the physical, visible, and powerful return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to this Earth.

We Believe: in Christian conduct patterned after Christ.

We Believe: in the final judgment of the just and the unjust; the righteous into everlasting life and the unjust into eternal separation from God.

Vision Statement

Our vision at Church of the Master is to preach, teach, and live the word of God so that lives (ours and others) will be changed for the glory of God.

We are searching for a pastor who meets the qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9. The main role of a pastor as stated in Ephesians 4:12 is “to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” In order to effectively watch over the flock, he must be eager to serve, leading in accordance with 1 Peter 5:2-4.

Through a congregational survey, we have discovered clarity and unity for what our church wants most in a pastor. He should aspire to prioritize spiritual transformation through God’s word, Biblical leadership in his home, and the church. The church desires an enthusiastic, humble servant leader who will guide us to do God’s will. His sermons should help us grow through sound Biblical teachings, with everyday application.

We are prayerfully seeking and patiently waiting for the pastor God is preparing for us.

If you only eat homemade pies, you’ll fit right in. (Bonus points if you know how to hunt and fish!)

Additional Responsibilities

Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to drive the church toward the Biblical vision

Mentor and develop church leadership for various responsibilities

Encourage discipleship and guide community outreach efforts

Support/attend various meetings and activities when possible

Organizational skills and manage time effectively

Church Profile

The church has roots in the Freewill Baptist Church dating back to 1829, but became the Church of the Master in 1935. Since that time, we have been a small but committed nondenominational church with a foundation on Biblical teaching.

We currently have 42 members with attendance consistently between 65-75. We value both traditional hymns and contemporary worship with many singing enthusiastically and in harmony. We have Sunday school for all ages. Additional small groups include women’s circle, Mama Bears Bible study, youth group and Wednesday night Bible study. We are hardworking families, agricultural/farmers, factory workers, business owners, teachers and outdoor enthusiasts, including a number of young families with children. In addition, many members have a lifetime of experience and wisdom to share.

We have a longstanding tradition of fellowship centered around home cooked meals. We value outdoor worship in the summer months. The Church of the Master observes child dedications, Baptism upon statement of faith, Communion, and Biblical marriage. Traditionally, the church holds special services including Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Sunrise Easter.

Outreach events include our annual Live Nativity and Vacation Bible School, both of these events see a large number of visitors. The church designates 15% of offerings to support a variety of international, national and local missions.

Our vision at the Church of the Master is to preach, teach, and live the word of God so that lives (ours and others) will be changed for the glory of God.

Benefits

Community Profile

The Church of the Master resides in a rural area between the towns of Willard and Monroeville, surrounded by the smaller villages of North Fairfield, Plymouth and Greenwich within Huron county, Ohio. The county has an estimated population of 58,000 people as of 2025. The median household income in Huron county is $65,972. The average home value is $173,000 for the area. The county’s leading industries are agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, construction, and retail. As the largest vegetable producing area in the state, we are a predominately white community with a growing number of Hispanic families. Children within the church are dispersed between homeschools, public schools, Catholic schools, and Christian schools in the county.

We see opportunity for increased involvement in the Willard community and working in tandem with other local churches through a couple of ministries we believe in. The Hope Center is a safe place for Willard youth to go after school, for meals, entertainment, life skills and mentorship. A number of our members give their time at The Hope Center and our church supports this program financially. It’s well known for their annual Hope Fest concert, which draws visitors from outside the town. We volunteer at the Willard food bank to reach those in need within the community.

Although we are nestled in rural Ohio, Huron county is just south of Lake Erie and halfway between Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio. We are close enough to enjoy the big city entertainment, recreational water sports and activities, or explore historical treasures anywhere in between and still make it home by evening. Depending on the time of year you may have to pass a slow-moving tractor on your way home.

COMPENSATION

Total Package: $45,000-60,0002 weeks vacation
