This team plays a critical role in achieving this by building cutting-edge web experiences that drive patient retention, engagement, and satisfaction.
In this highly visible and impactful role, you'll directly influence key growth metrics and significantly shape how we activate and reactivate customers across our platform.
You Will:
  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable and performant backend solutions that meet product requirements and enhance the experience of our platform powers
  • Own the architecture of core subscription and membership systems, including billing correctness, lifecycle state management, plan changes, cancellations, and workflow orchestration across commerce, pharmacy, and fulfillment
  • Partner closely with engineering teams across commerce, clinical care, pharmacy, and fulfillment to drive cross-functional technical initiatives and ensure platform decisions scale across the organization
  • Provide mentorship on best practices, design patterns, and coding standards
  • Advocate for team technical needs within the broader engineering organization
  • Participate in product discovery and validation through prototypes and experiments
  • Partner with product and design to ensure platform capabilities support an intuitive end-to-end customer experience
  • Drive strategic technical decisions to improve security, scalability, and performance
  • Break down complex projects into actionable tasks
  • Establish and enforce consistent coding and testing standards
  • Initiate efforts to reduce technical debt and enhance workflow efficiency
  • Implement tools and processes for monitoring, incident response, and performance optimization
  • Implement analytics and monitoring to demonstrate how engineering solutions directly impact key customer activation and reactivation KPIs
  • Analyze metrics and user feedback to continuously improve the platform
  • Maintain thorough technical documentation
  • Conduct code reviews and facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives

You Have:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a Staff Engineer or equivalent senior technical leadership role
  • Proven experience in building the platform infrastructure that drives patient retention, engagement, and satisfaction, preferably in a cloud environment (AWS)
  • Proficiency in back-end technologies (Spring, Java, Kotlin, PostgreSQL)
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize web service metrics (speed, reliability, etc.)
  • Experience with building workflows (Temporal), monitoring (Datadog), experimentation frameworks (Growthbook, Optimizely, etc.), CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub actions), etc
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple projects in order to meet goals without management oversight
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React, React Native, NextJS, GraphQL, TypeScript)

You will be successful in the role if you are someone who:
  • Identifies clarity in ambiguous situations, acting as a stabilizing influence during uncertainty
  • Fosters trust and collaboration across diverse teams
  • Balances confidence with humility, constructively addressing conflicts and resistance.
  • Provides empathetic feedback and promotes transparency
  • Strategically drives execution of initiatives, maintaining urgency and focus on critical priorities.
  • Champions customer-centric design and ensures customer priorities are reflected
  • Demonstrates accountability, owning outcomes, and the long-term success of technical systems
  • Proactively identifies and addresses risks and gaps without awaiting direction
  • Promotes curiosity, continuous improvement, and innovation
  • Influences decisions through well-reasoned arguments and supports alignment post-decision

Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):
  • Competitive salary & equity compensation for full-time roles
  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & vision, and parental leave
