Summary

The HIM Operations Data Specialist Sr is responsible for researching, reviewing, processing, amending and correcting requests impacting the patient health records, amendments and corrections.This position performs all functions leading to the resolution of accounts placed on hold due to deficiencies with the clinical documentation. It provides support to the Health Information Management (HIM) team by researching and resolving issues related to provider queries and missing documentation and updating the coding system with the accurate responses. This position processes all inquiries and requests routed to HIM for patient medical records related data and processes updates related to providers names and credentials in applicable systems.This position serves as a liaison between the clinical staff and HIM team to ensure the integrity of the patient medical records to enhance coding and billing accuracy.The HIM Operations Data Specialist Sr is responsible for the training and onboarding of the HIM Operations Data Specialist, communication of trends to leadership and the review of existing processes to implement revisions as a result of changes in clinical data flows. In addition, it provides backup in all areas and assists the supervisor with training, complaint follow-up, and escalation points.

Minimum Education Level:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Minimum Education Level:

  • High School/GED and eight (8) years' experience working in a Healthcare environment required, inclusive of the following experience: reviewing, researching, running, and producing reports from patient medical records, coding systems and databases. Experience with troubleshooting clinical data issues with documented resolution to assist the with protected health information.

Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required

  • Strong medical terminology experience
  • Clear understanding of revenue cycle applications, including electronic health records
  • Excellent ability to use spreadsheet, word processing, statistical, project management, and presentation
  • software applications, preferably Microsoft Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word)
  • Ability to execute strategy, communicate knowledge of business processes and enable technologies to produce results
  • Ability to manage own schedule and responsibilities. Must have initiative to work effectively without constant supervision and direction in order to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment with identified productivity requirements and with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience training new team members on policy and procedures. Experience in Health Information Management.

Salary Range

$22.19 - $33.83
