Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position in El Paso, TX, requiring active TX or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of PICU experience.

Details
  • Pediatric ICU (PICU) unit within a hospital setting, located on the 7th floor of Building A
  • 19-bed combined unit consisting of 10 PICU beds and 9 general Pediatrics beds
  • Patient ratios: 1:2 in PICU; 1:3 IMC (1:4 with PCT); 1:5 Peds (1:6 with PCT)
  • Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 3–4 bedside nurses; same staffing model on nights
  • Day shift (AM): 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3x12-hour shifts per week
  • 4 weekends per month required; AM shift covers Saturday and Sunday
  • No on-call requirements
  • Equipment includes Hillrom beds, GE monitors, ICU Plum 360 infusion pumps, and Medfusion syringe pumps
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Procedures performed on the unit include lumbar punctures, intubations, chest tube placements, and conscious sedation
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of assignment start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a PICU setting
  • Pediatric and Pediatric ICU experience required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required (candidates from Florida or Missouri must provide two references
Additional Information
  • This unit cares for a wide range of pediatric patients, from post-surgical cases such as appendicitis to critically ill patients requiring vasoactive drips and mechanical ventilation for septic shock
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
  • Scrub color required: galaxy blue
  • Ideal candidates are adaptable team players who are open to constructive feedback and continuous growth
  • 13-week contract
