Job description

Position Description: Certified Surgical Technologist
  • The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
  • Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
  • Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
  • Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
  • May assist in patient transport.

Position Details:
Location: South Florida Baptist Hospital
Status: PRN, Exempt: No
Shift Hours: 12 hour shifts
Weekend Work: Occasional
On Call: Yes
Requirements:
  • Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
  • Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Specific Skills:
  • Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up
  • Interpersonal skills
