Job description

Role: High Performance Intern - 2026 / 2027 Season
Organization: Tampa Bay Sun FC
Reports to: Head Performance Coach
Classification: Seasonal Intern. This internship is eligible for college credit. A stipend will be provided for hours worked beyond required academic credit hours.
POSITION SUMMARY
The High-Performance Intern will have the opportunity to assist with the overall operations of the High- Performance Department at Tampa Bay Sun Football Club, a division 1 women's professional soccer team. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge in sports science, strength and conditioning and data collection.
The High-Performance Intern will work alongside the Head Performance Coach and Sports Scientist to assist in the day-to-day operations and execution of all Tampa Bay Sun FC trainings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Learn/Assist with training session operations from a high-performance perspective.
  • Assist with GPS set up and management throughout the session
  • Assist with testing modalities including Nordboard and Force Plate testing.
  • Assist as a strength coach in the gym.
  • Learn how to quickly problem solve in a high-pressure environment/adapt to training days as circumstances change.
  • Create/Provide a positive/open minded work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
  • Applicants can be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in Sports Science/Human Performance/Strength & Conditioning.
  • Experience in performance coaching or sports science in a professional sporting environment.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Exceptional reliability, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.
  • An innovative individual who can come up with ideas and work extremely well within a team to come up with creative solutions and identify new opportunities, often in a high-pressure, fast- changing environment.
  • Able to be available during non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, and within a team atmosphere.
  • Applicants are self-sufficient and are work driven.
  • This role will be around 20-30 hours weekly.
  • Ability to be flexible including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
