Aerial Fiber/CATV Construction Linemen

About this Position: FNS is looking to hire experienced In-house Aerial Construction Crew members to work with our Richmond, VA. team. You'll join an existing team working many types of HFC/Broadband projects to include, BAU, spans, relos, Hyperbuild, Newbuild, Metro-E, etc. You will report to Project Management.

This position is to hire in-house personnel. Contract positions are available to individuals and crews.

The inhouse position is hourly based. Contract positions are production based.

About Our Organization: Fiber Network Services is a communications contractor offering a full range of fiber optic cable network services. With Master Construction Agreements with Cox Communications, Comcast Cable, Crown Castle, Segra, Suddenlink, Windstream, and RCN in the State of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Tennessee, and Washington D.C., we are a trusted resource for cabling and maintaining high-speed internet connectivity via fiber optic and Coaxial systems.

Job Location: Richmond, VA

Hours/Week: 40+

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for aerial construction of HFC Outside plant projects. To include but not limited to:

  • Aerial Fiber / Coax construction experience
  • Ability to read HFC maps / prints to understand project scope
  • Ability to Climb poles, utilizing Gaffs, Ladder and a Bucket Truck to perform work where required
  • Maintain visual and vocal contact with other crew members as well as all moving or stationary people, vehicles, and objects in order to guarantee safe movement coordination.
  • Ability to recognize and enforce Safe working environments in Public Right-of-Way environments to include worksite traffic-control best practices.
  • Able to produce accurate post-construction as-built mark-up maps. Typically through red-lined PDF files.
  • Ability to provide daily production reports via email/excel or additional tracking methods.
  • Maintaining aerial specifications when placing overhead lines
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to follow directions, produce quality work, maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all Federal, State, and Company regulations and policies

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HFC design
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others and work within a team environment
  • Ability to be at work every day at 7am
  • Ability to occasionally be On-Call for after-hours emergency work
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license
  • Ability to pass a drug screening
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to speak fluent English,
  • Ability to read and understand technical instruction
  • Education: High School or G.E.D
