Job description

Purpose:
The Service Technician performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work on customer-owned and dealership-owned agricultural and turf equipment. This position supports customers by helping ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The Service Technician follows established procedures, completes required documentation, participates in technical training, and maintains a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work on agricultural and turf equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair established precision technology products and related systems as assigned.
  • Follow manufacturer technical manuals, dealership procedures, and service standards when completing repairs.
  • Participate in required training programs to develop technical skills and maintain current product knowledge.
  • Maintain working knowledge of equipment, technologies, and competitive products relevant to the role.
  • Complete required service documentation, reports, work orders, and other records accurately and on time.
  • Accurately record labor hours and materials used for assigned work.
  • Maintain tools, service equipment, vehicles, and inventory in proper working condition.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair status, equipment concerns, and service needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Associate degree in diesel technology, agricultural equipment technology, mechanical technology, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience performing equipment maintenance or repair work.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance using specialized tools and equipment while following technical manuals and established procedures.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems commonly used in agricultural and turf equipment.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software, including Service Advisor, and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for testing and diagnostic purposes.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic Service Technician certification.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, service manuals, and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned work accurately.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and technical development.
  • Customer service mindset and professional demeanor.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Regularly bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and work in varying physical positions.
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and hand-tool operation.
  • Climb ladders, equipment, or structures approximately 6 to 13 feet in height.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
  • Perform work in both indoor and outdoor environments with varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to equipment, moving mechanical parts, noise, dirt, grease, and other conditions commonly associated with equipment repair and maintenance operations.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on job duties and safety requirements.
  • Limited local travel may be required to support service activities, training, or customer needs.
