Position: Junior Marketing Manager, Eyewear

Department: Marketing

Reports to: Senior Marketing Manager- Eyewear

Location: Portland, OR Hybrid in office; reporting onsite 3-days/week


SMITH Optics is looking for a passionate, organized, and consumer-minded marketer for the role of Junior Marketing Manager, Eyewear North America.

This role will support the execution of integrated marketing initiatives across the Smith eyewear portfolio, including Smith prescription and Suncloud, with a primary focus on the North American market. Reporting into the Senior Eyewear Marketing Manager, this position plays a critical role in bringing category campaigns, product launches, retail activations, athlete initiatives, and go-to-market plans to life across wholesale and DTC channels. The Jr Marketing Manager will work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, GTM, Creative, E-commerce, Sports Marketing, and external agency partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, on brand, and aligned to business objectives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a fast-paced outdoor and lifestyle-brand environment. They have strong project management capabilities, a passion for storytelling and culture, and a desire to learn the full marketing ecosystem from product positioning through execution.


Essential Job Duties

Campaign & Marketing Execution

  • Support the execution of integrated marketing campaigns across product launches, seasonal storytelling, and brand initiatives
  • Assist in coordinating campaign timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional communication to ensure successful launches
  • Help manage briefing processes with internal Creative teams and external partners
  • Support development of marketing assets across digital, retail, social, events, PR, and wholesale channels
  • Ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints and executions

North America Go-To-Market Support

  • Day-to-day marketing point of contact for the North American commercial team
  • Support the Senior Eyewear Marketing Manager and GTM teams to ensure successful North American launch execution across wholesale and DTC channels
  • Coordinate seasonal sell-in and sell-through support materials for key accounts and sales teams
  • Support execution for eyewear category for regional events, activations, athlete appearances, and community initiatives

Product & Category Support

  • Support Senior Marketing Manager in the collaboration on the master plan process including consumer information, internal presentations, and marketing recaps
  • Assist in gathering market, consumer, and competitive insights to help inform marketing strategies and positioning
  • Help maintain product calendars, campaign trackers, and category marketing documentation
  • Become knowledgeable on key product technologies, franchises, and category stories

Operations & Project Management

  • Manage Asana tasks and internal project status updates & communication
  • Assist in budget tracking, invoice management, and agency coordination
  • Support organization and logistics for sales meetings, trade shows, media events, and athlete activations
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Senior Eyewear Marketing Manager or Head of Marketing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
  • 2–4 years of marketing experience within outdoor, sports, lifestyle, fashion, or consumer goods industries
  • Experience in the eyewear industry a plus
  • Passion for the outdoor industry and/or Fishing, Bike, Running, or Outdoor culture
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams and stakeholders
  • Creative thinker with an understanding of brand storytelling and consumer marketing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management tools required
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, Shopify, or social/content platforms is a plus
  • Willingness to travel domestically for events, sales meetings, and activations
