Job description

Forbes is seeking a Temporary Helpdesk Engineer, a hands-on technical support role within Forbes' Corporate Technology team. This position provides day-to-day technical support to employees, resolves hardware, software, and access issues, and supports the corporate systems that keep the office running. It reports to the Principal Manager, Corporate Solutions and works closely with the Infrastructure team. This is a temporary assignment.

This position requires in-office presence at our Jersey City, New Jersey headquarters five days per week. Daily work includes hands-on desktop support, conference room technology checks, and equipment logistics for new hires, so a strong in-person, customer-facing presence is essential.

Responsibilities:

Onsite and desktop support

  • Perform daily checks of conference room technology, including Zoom Rooms, displays, cameras, microphones, and control systems, and fix issues before meetings start.
  • Provide onsite desktop support, including hardware setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Manage equipment inventory and handle shipping and receiving, including imaging and preparing devices for new hires.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding with device provisioning and collection.

Helpdesk and systems support

  • Respond to and resolve daily IT tickets for user access, devices, software, and network connectivity.
  • Provide support for email, collaboration tools, and identity and access management, including account provisioning, password resets, and MFA.
  • Troubleshoot authentication, access, and wireless connectivity issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers.
  • Set up and configure end-user devices and handle mobile device management (MDM) tasks, including enrollment, compliance, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with the Infrastructure team on system maintenance, patching, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Document solutions and maintain knowledge base articles, and keep a high standard of professionalism and customer service.

Projects

  • Take on onsite projects and hands-on initiatives as needed, such as equipment rollouts, device refreshes, and office moves.
  • Identify recurring issues and support process, automation, and user experience improvements.

The ideal candidate:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 2 to 4+ years of IT support experience in a corporate or enterprise environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting email systems, collaboration platforms, and identity and access management tools.
  • Strong understanding of account provisioning, password resets, and MFA troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting network connectivity and wireless access in corporate environments.
  • Working knowledge of device management tools for Windows, macOS, and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience with conference room technology and onsite hardware support.
  • Familiarity with endpoint protection and security awareness practices.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment for setup, shipping, and receiving.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with clear communication for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tickets, manage time, and follow up to resolution.
  • Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with infrastructure and security teams on escalations and projects.
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL (preferred).

The hourly rate for this role is $40.00 - $45.00

Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith.  The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate.  In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company's pay rates, generally.
